| Day 1 Fri: Arrive Cairns On arrival in Cairns you will be transferred to the campsite. Your Tour Director will meet you at approximately 6.00pm. Tonight enjoy a welcome drink with your crew and fellow travelling companions. Camp: Cairns, 3 nights. Day 2 Sat: Great Barrier Reef Board the high-speed catamaran for a full day cruise to the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy a reef presentation to learn more about the wonders of the reef, view spectacular coral and tropical fish from the Underwater Observatory or semisubmersible boat. Go snorkelling and view this natural wonder up close (equipment provided). Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch, before returning to Cairns. Day 3 Sun: Skyrail – Kuranda This morning board the Skyrail Cableway for a journey above the rainforest to explore Kuranda and the colourful Kuranda Markets. Enjoy the Pamagirri Experience where you will take the ‘Dreamtime’ walk along the Rainbow Serpent, through Aboriginal traditions, myths and legends. Learn how to throw a boomerang or play the didjeridu. Watch dancers perform the Pamagirri Corroboree. Board the Kuranda train for an historic journey taking you through the scenic countryside behind Cairns. Day 4 Mon: Airlie Beach Commence the journey south and travel to Townsville for a brief stop. Continue onto Airlie Beach, gateway to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. Camp: Airlie Beach, 2 nights. |
Day 5 Tue: Whitsunday Islands Cruise by catamaran to Hamilton Island. Spend time exploring the island, before travelling to Whitehaven Beach, where pure white silica sand is fringed by the clear sparkling Whitsunday waters. Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch. Day 6 Wed: Rockhampton Travel to Mackay, the sugar capital of Australia, for a short break. Enjoy some free time this afternoon to look around Rockhampton situated on the broad Fitzroy River. See the historic buildings including Customs House and Quay street. Continue south to Langmorn Station, a fully operational cattle station. Enjoy a guided tour of ‘The Old Station’ and historic ‘Langmorn Homestead’. Camp: Langmorn Station. Day 7 Thu: Hervey Bay Travel via Miriam Vale and Gin Gin enroute to Hervey Bay, gateway to Fraser Island. Lying just offshore of Hervey Bay, remarkable Fraser Island is ready to be explored tomorrow. Camp: Hervey Bay, 2 nights. Day 8 Fri: Fraser Island Cruise to World Heritage listed Fraser Island, the longest sand island in the world and the largest island off Australia’s East Coast, where ancient rainforests grow in sand along the banks of fast flowing crystal-clear creeks. On arrival board a 4WD and traverse the sand dunes. Tour 75 Mile Beach, see the Cathedrals, cliff faces of coloured sands, stop at Eli Creek and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Enjoy a leisurely cruise back to Hervey Bay this afternoon. |
Day 9 Sat: Brisbane – Gold Coast This morning travel to Brisbane for an orientation tour and time to explore or perhaps do some opal shopping. Clients departing this afternoon in Brisbane conclude at 3.30pm at the Brisbane Transit Centre (Tour Code: CCB). You will be transferred to Brisbane Airport for your onward flight (flights to depart after 5.00pm). Continue south to the famous Gold Coast, boasting 70 kilometres of spectacular golden beaches. Tonight, the evening is free for you to discover the vibrant Gold Coast and dine at one of the many local restaurants. Camp: Gold Coast. Day 10 Sun: Coffs Harbour Today follow the lush Tweed River Valley to Cape Byron Lighthouse for superb views from Australia’s eastern most point. We stop at colourful Byron Bay with time to explore the many interesting shops before continuing along the Pacific Highway to Coffs Harbour. Enjoy an overnight stay in this picturesque resort town. Hotel: Opal Cove Resort, Coffs Harbour. Day 11 Mon: Coffs Harbour – Sydney Stop at the coastal town of Port Macquarie. This afternoon continue travelling south across the beautiful Hawkesbury River into the ‘Harbour City’ of Sydney. Arrive at the AAT Kings Day Tour Terminal at approximately 5.30pm. You will be transferred to Sydney Airport to connect with your onward flight. |
