Heron Island Resort on Australia's Great Barrier Reef

 

Property Information:

Heron Island Resort is located in the Great Barrier Reef and can be reached by staying guests (no daytrippers) via launch transfer from Gladstone in Queensland. Heron Island is a coral cay with coral surrounding the island, this makes it a great destination to directly swim off the beach into an endless garden of coral where you'll find many beautiful coloured fish and marine life.

As this island is not for daytrippers, staying guests will experience Heron Island exclusively. There are no buildings above the tree line so you'll have an unique experience to explore and discover the natural attractions the island has to offer. Experience a relaxed island lifestyle with a casual resort atmosphere.

Accommodation Information:

Heron Island offers 6 different types of accommodation options:

Turtle Rooms - which are set back from the beach and surrounded by Pisona Trees with nesting birds, all rooms are at ground level and feature a large deck and outdoor area. Family rooms are also available which can accommodate 4 people.

Reef Rooms - which are located at North Beach of the island, they have a spacious living area which opens out onto a terrace or balcony. Reef rooms are also available in Family rooms accommodating 4 people.

Heron Beachside Suites - with filtered ocean views and direct access to the beach, these suites have a separate bedroom and living area with large balcony.

Wistari Suites - these are located in a private garden setting, spacious interior with king bed and private outdoor terrace with a hammock.

Point Suites - these are in a prime located with views of the ocean and reef, they offer modern comforts and are spacious and include an outdoor terrace with sunlounges.

Beach House - only one of, located at North Beach and with direct access to the beach and reef, they have air-conditioning with separate bedroom and the ensuite features a bath and shower.

GETTING TO HERON ISLAND

By Boat

The boat transfer departs only once per day from Gladstone, it takes approximately 2 hours to get to Heron Island.
Guests flying into Gladstone Airport on the morning to arrive to Heron will receive a bus transfer to the marina.

Guests arriving by car to Gladstone will need to make there own way to the marina. There is sercure parking at the marina however it is strongly recommended to pre-booked this, contact is for details.

For guests arriving on a later flight, will need to find accommodation for the evening in Gladstone, contact us for bookings.
Alternatively, there is a Helicopter Service that can transfer you to Heron Island that same day.

By Helicopter

The helicopter flight departs daily except Christmas Day from the HeliReef Terminal (which is 4 minutes from the Gladstone Airport) and takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the island. Transfer from airport to terminal are provided to guests.
There is a luggage restriction of 15kg per person. Luggage storage is available at the terminal.
This is a fantastic scenic flight to see the reef and aerial views of Heron Island.
