Tweed Heads Backpackers Tours

At the southern end of the Gold Coast, with the Queensland–New South Wales border running through the main street, are the twin towns of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads where backpackers have been travelling to for many years to enjoy the many pleasure that are on offer here.

Coolangatta has its own sheltered beach and nearby picnic area, and further south, Greenmount Beach has gentle surf where children can play safely. The airport, Australia's fifth busiest, is in Coolangatta, and at Tweed Heads is the Captain Cook Memorial Lighthouse with the latest laser beams.

Along with the sun, sand and surf, the southern end of the Gold Coast also offers plenty of sporting amenities, clubs, Coolangatta accommodation and good shopping. Every second Sunday market stalls are set up along the beachfront, offering a selection of local handicrafts.

Tweed Heads Backpackers

Graced with magnificent ocean beaches, Coolangatta was the pacesetter in the Gold Coast’s drive to international resort pre-eminence. Coolangatta retains its historic links with its twin city on the NSW side of the border, Tweed Heads. It offers the best of all tourist worlds including superb surf, the lure of the Gold Coast, and the tranquillity of the Tweed Valley and rainforest hinterland.

The coast-hugging walkway round the bluff above Rainbow Bay presents magnificent views of the ocean and the Tweed River mouth, and skirts the Captain Cook Memorial and Lighthouse on Point Danger. The outdoor recreations of surfing, swimming, fishing, bowls and golf dominate the Coolangatta-Tweed Heads lifestyle. So no matter if you are chasing a holiday that is based around relaxation and just kicking back or you are looking for fun and excitement you can enjoy the many attractions within Coolangatta and within its popular surrounding suburbs of the Gold Coast, such as Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Southport.
