The Wet Side water park on the esplanade in Pialba is a new $12 million development which provides free access to everything except the wave pool. It is an ideal place to take the kids for a day. The Urangan Pier has just been refurbished and provides an ideal opportunity for the kids to go fishing with dad and there is a good chance they will actually catch something.

The Botanic Gardens are unusual in being built on the 6,000 year old former sand dunes. Highlights are the Aboriginal bush tucker trail and the Orchid House.

Hervey Bay hosts a week-long Hervey Bay whale watching festival in August which is a major tourist attraction. This annual festival features several entertainment options such as an electric light parade and fireworks. Other Hervey Bay activities include the famous whale watching tours that leave daily during the whale watching season, fishing charters and tours to see the fantastic natural attractions on world heritage listed Fraser island.
