Main Beach Activities
Main Beach on the Gold Coast is always a hive of activities. It has become the most sought after destination on the Gold Coast for a holiday, because there is plenty to occupy its visitors. Main Beach is located towards the northern end of the Gold Coast strip and is situated between Surfers Paradise to the south and the Southport Spit and the Southport Broadwater to the north, and it is walking distance from all of these. On its eastern boundary, you will find one of the best and most popular surfing beaches on the entire Gold Coast.
If you like to dine out or be seen in a trendy café, while enjoying your holiday, then Tedder Avenue, right in the center of Main Beach, is the place for you. The streets are alive with expensive sports cars and the row of shops includes beautiful fashion boutiques, travel agencies, banks and a wide range of alfresco diners great cafes and excellent resort style accommodation. The Southport Yacht Club is just around the corner and it is surrounded by a maze of marinas and shopping outlets set along the Broadwater frontage. Fishing charters and Whale watching trips leave from here as well as floating restaurants and tall ship cruises on the Broadwater.


The beach at Main Beach is sensational and it rates with the best on the entire Gold Coast. It is the most popular destination for kite surfers whose colourful kites carry them at high speeds through the surf. It is a very spectacular activity to watch and the beachfront accommodation towers provides a great place to watch them from. Every October, the V8 Supercars come to Main Beach and the race track runs right through the town. The apartment buildings situated on the track provide the best viewing for this event and they book out well in advance. The track has been shortened since the Indy cars stopped coming and is now almost totally found within the Main Beach area.
