The surfing beach at Main Beach is one of the most popular on the Gold Coast. There is a wide stretch of beautiful white sand fringed by an excellent surf break. Main Beach is the most popular beach with kite surfers and when the south easterly breeze pipes up there are dozens of these colourful kites to be seen zooming across the waves. At times the riders are airborne for seconds and the whole spectacle is quite spectacular. The high rise accommodation along the beachfront is an ideal vantage point from which to watch the action. The race track for the V8 supercar event that is held on the Gold Coast every October, runs right through the residential streets of main beach. The balcony’s of the high rise accommodation towers are the best vantage point from which to watch this exciting race. You need to book early as everything will be booked out on race day.
Main Beach is only a hop step and a jump from Seaworld theme park on the Southport spit. Seaworld is the best of the Gold Coast theme parks as it has so much more to offer. Not only does it have the adrenaline pumping rides that the other parks have but it also includes a water park with slides and huge pools, but the marine mammal and fish displays are the best in Australia.
