Southport Holidays with Kids

Southport is a great place for a holidays with the kids. All children love the beach, fishing and water sports and Southport offers this in abundance and much more besides. Southport is a great place to bring your own boat, and you don’t need anything big to enjoy the local waterways. Fishing in this region is fantastic with catches including flathead, whiting and bream being common and you can also visit local islands like the wavebreak island at the entrance to the Southport seaway or South Stradbroke Island. The Jumpinpin Bar separates north and south Stradbroke Islands and this is well known as a fishing destination.

On the Southport spit, there are fantastic activities for families with kids. Firstly, the beach is one of the best surfing beaches on the Gold Coast. Deep sea fishing charters are available from the local marina’s and the parklands at the northern end of the spit are a fantastic place for a family picnic.

The most important attraction on the Gold Coast is also to be found on the Southport Spit and the kids will not go home until they have been there. That attraction is the Seaworld theme park. Not only does Seaworld have all the adrenaline pumping rides that are famous in Gold Coast theme parks, but it also has an amazing water park that rivals anything else and many aquatic displays that are unique to Seaworld. The marine mammal section is fantastic with performing dolphins and seals as well as shark displays and many other marine animal and aquarium displays. You can stay at the Seaworld Nara Resort which has specials and packages designed to appeal to families on holiday with kids and it provides some of the best family accommodation in the region.
