Rainbow Beach offers kilometres of unspoilt white sandy beaches and rolling surf; a perfect place to escape! Rainbow Beach invites you to an adventure of 4WD, freshwater lakes, coloured sands, deserted beaches. The place for bush-walking, picnics and camping. Accommodation ranges from camping to four star resorts - a fantastic place for the whole family. Boating is also a very popular pastime from the waterways of Tin Can Bay. Cruise the Great Sandy Straits up the inland side of Fraser Island and discover the unspoilt beauty of this region. Houseboat hire is available from Tin Can Bay.
Tin Can Bay is a secluded little town and a great place to relax. Its major industry is fishing with prawning fleets based in Schnapper Creek. One of the very special features of Tin Can Bay is the regular visits of wild dolphins. They come right to the waters edge where people can touch them and feed them. As the dolphins are wild in their natural habitat, sightings are not guaranteed. Camping, motels and unit accommodation available.
Rainbow Beach is the northern most point of the Sunshine Coast and is the southern gateway to World Heritage listed Fraser Island. The beaches up in this region offer excellent 4 wheel driving opportunities as well as surf fishing.
Rainbow Beach is a very pleasant coastal town with modern holiday amenities, many styles of accommodation - a really top place for a lazy holiday for all ages. The Forty Mile Beach strip down the coast to Noosa can be traversed by 4WD - however the crossing of Double Island Point requires skill and careful attention to tides and sand conditions.
On the way to Noosa Heads you will pass the coloured sands - a natural occurrence of many layers of brilliant ochre shades. Day trips to this area also operate from further down the coast if you are not an adventure off road driver! Noosa North Shore has a hotel and fuel and provision opportunities. There are also horses and camel trekking opportunities just north of the Noosa River which is crossed by a car ferry that operates in daylight and a little later on weekends. Whilst staying on the Sunshine Coast it is a great opportunity to visit World Heritage listed Fraser Island.
