Sailing is a favourite pastime for everyone, and anyone that has embarked on a sailing trip before will know that is one that will surpass all expectations! From overnight Whitsundays sailing trips to extended stays you can tailor make a package with a number of outstanding tour companies like Barefoot cruises that get you completely organised for a holiday out on the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.

Some people just like to take to the waters for the day as they visit a couple of the islands within the Whitsundays and experience the island life with many interesting stops and attractions along the way. From catamarans to yachts there are a variety of day sailing trips that leave from many of the island as well as the main land, for example Airlie Beach, Port Douglas, Cairns or Cooktown.

But if you are looking for something a little longer you can take your pick from many different styles of boats for your sailing holiday all depending on how many people you have to accommodate and what your budget is. There are also packages available whereby you can organise your very own crew to sail the boat and prepare all of the meals for you, so all you need to worry about it just sitting back and completely relaxing.

Cruise the beautiful waters on your own whitsundays bare boat, visit secluded beaches and pull up anchor in a private inlet for the night, the choice is completely up to you. Many of the islands welcome passing vessels to moor for the night so that you can come ashore and make full use of the resort activities and attractions. Why not pull into the marina at Hamilton Island or stop over at Daydream Island for the day. Some of the Islands, such as Hayman Island, are exclusively for overnight guests, but with the many other islands open for visitors there won’t be any shortage for your island hopping adventures.

The coastline of Queensland has so many pristine islands scattered all throughout the Great Barrier Reef, so why not make a real go of it and start from the tip at Cooktown and make your way all the way to Bundaberg which is the most southern part of the Great Barrier Reef.

Laze on the front deck, go snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming, tunnel diving and so much more. You can make up your own itinerary as you go.... it is all up to you! It will be a holiday to remember, so why don’t start arranging your sailing trip on the Great Barrier Reef.
