Caloundra is a fantastic place for a holiday with the kids. All Aussie kids love the beach, boating or a picnic in a rainforest and this is just what is on offer in the Caloundra region. Caloundra is ideally located, being one hours drive north from Brisbane along an excellent motorway or it can be accessed by air direct into the Sunshine Coasts own airport. Direct flights operate from both Sydney and Melbourne.
All the best local resorts are either on the beachfront or adjacent to it. There is plenty of apartment style accommodation in beachfront resorts that is ideally suited for family accommodation. The kids will love these resorts as they all have great swimming pools and are only a short walk across the road to the beach. On Golden Beach which fronts onto the Pumicestone Passage, there are calm waters for safe swimming for small kids as well as ideal family boating conditions. Fishing here is excellent and many other boating and aquatic activities like kayaking and sailing can be experienced here.
The local hinterland is full of opportunities to entertain the kids. A day out at Australia Zoo is one of the most popular pastimes on the Sunshine Coast. The Zoo is located at Beerwah, about 30 minutes drive from Caloundra. You can drive yourself or take the regular shuttle bus service. This zoo is now recognised around the world as a fantastic entertainment and educational facility. The Glass House Mountains are a great destination for a tour or a family picnic, with beautiful natural attractions and scenery. Likewise, the Blackall Ranges and the towns of Maleny and Montville are also great destinations for a day out.
So check out the specials and come to Caloundra for your next holiday with the kids.
