There is plenty of resort style accommodation on the Fraser Coast. Both Hervey Bay and Fraser Island and to a lesser extent, Rainbow Beach have experienced a real estate boom over the past decade which has resulted in the construction of many apartment style resorts. Most of these are in prime locations as this makes it an easier job for the developer to sell the units to investors. What usually happens with this type of project is that the management rights are sold to a holiday accommodation chain like Mantra or Ramada and they then take over the day to day marketing and running of the resort.
Hervey Bay is an excellent example of this. There have been several of these types of development that are now operational and are providing top of the line, resort style holiday accommodation to travellers and tourists coming to the area. Oceans Resort & Spa Hervey Bay is located on the Esplanade at Urangan overlooking the beach and the ocean.
It has fantastic facilities including great swimming pool, restaurants, shopping and a tavern. The Great Sandy Straits Marina resort is a little older but set in a fantastic oceanfront position right at the Urangan Boat harbour. Facilities include swimming pool and tennis court. Mantra Hervey Bay is another high quality resort right on the edge of the boat harbour. Here you can step straight out onto the marina boardwalk. The Ramada Hervey Bay is also located in the boat harbour precinct.
On Fraser Island you will find one of Australia’s most awarded eco resorts. Mercure Kingfisher Bay resort is situated on the inshore side of the island and features magnificent architecture, swimming pools, restaurants and shopping facilities. The resort has 160 hotel style rooms plus a number of villas and self contained apartments set on the hill behind and overlooking the resort and the waters of the Great Sandy Straits.
On the ocean side of Fraser Island is the Eurong Beach resort which is a lower standard and a bit older but it provides excellent family accommodation that is right on the ocean beach.
At the southern end of the Fraser Coast is Rainbow Beach and it also has several modern resorts. The largest of these is Rainbow Shores resort which is a beachfront resort with horse riding, tennis and golf as part of its activities. Rainbow Getaway resort also provides great holiday accommodation.
