Attractions

Rainbow Beach is an attraction in its own right. it is the most northerly surfing beach in Queensland and has magnificent colored sands as an added bonus. It also lies on the shores of the great sandy Straits which run between the mainland and Fraser Island and this waterway is a magnificent location to hire a bareboat or a houseboat for a holiday on the water. Tin Can bay lies a short distance away and it has a lovely marina and boat ramp. This is the place where a pod of dolphins has been coming to be fed by sightseers. If you arrive around seven o’clock in the morning, there is a good chance that you will be able to enter the water and feed them yourself. This practice has been going on now for several years. Australia Zoo is another local attraction. it is a bit of a drive but there is a day’s entertainment at the end of it. Rainbow Beach is also close to the old gold mining town of Gympie where you can visit museums and the like, demonstrating the town’s history. Hervey Bay lies to the north and this is the best place in the world to go whale watching. Rainbow Beach is a town where there are plenty of holiday attractions.
