About this tour

Learn hydrofoiling from scratch in Queensland with an instructor who's logged more hours on a board than anyone else in Australia. This 90-minute session covers the fundamentals you'll need whether you progress to wing or kite foiling. You'll ride an electric hydrofoil and pick up techniques that usually take weeks to master elsewhere. The coaching draws on three decades of sports instruction, with a track record of turning beginners into confident riders.

Highlights

  • Electric hydrofoil provided; skills transfer to wing and kite foiling
  • Instructor holds longest hydrofoil riding record in Australia
  • 90 minutes covers foundational techniques most need weeks elsewhere to learn
  • Three decades of coaching experience compressed into one session
  • Suitable for moderate fitness levels with no prior experience required

What to expect

You'll start in shallow water getting comfortable on the board and understanding how the foil responds to your weight shifts. The instructor will watch your balance and positioning, making adjustments in real time. Expect to spend time standing, falling, getting back on—that's the learning curve. By the end you should feel the board lifting and understand the core movements. Sessions are practical rather than theoretical; most of the hour-and-a-half is spent in the water.

Good to know

Bring your own wetsuit or rash guard. You need at least moderate fitness; the activity isn't recommended if you have spinal issues, are pregnant, or have cardiovascular concerns. Public transport links exist nearby if you're not driving.
