About this tour
A genuine sailing experience off Airlie Beach with a small crew of eight, rather than a crowded cattle-boat affair. You'll help manage the sails as the sun drops over the Whitsundays, with champagne and canapés on deck. Two and a half hours of actual sailing—not just motoring with a token scrap of canvas.
Highlights
- Hands-on sailing with a working crew of eight maximum
- Champagne and canapés included; BYO welcome
- Ranked second on TripAdvisor's Whitsundays activities
- Genuine canvas experience, not a motor with decoration
- Golden hour light across open water
What to expect
You'll board a proper sailing vessel and actively participate—trimming sheets, helping with navigation, whatever's needed. The boat responds to wind and weight shift, not an engine throttle. Expect to be on deck the whole time, moving about and getting involved. The sun sets in real time; there's no rushing it or turning the bow to catch better angles. Bring layers; it can freshen up once you're offshore.
Good to know
Moderate fitness needed for deck work and movement. Children welcome; infants must sit on an adult's lap. Prams and strollers acceptable for boarding. Service animals permitted. Public transport nearby if you need it.
