A historic journey from the tropical city of Townsville to the mining centre of Mount Isa, The Inlander offers the opportunity to experience the heritage and natural treasures of North Queensland’s rugged, yet beautiful inland.
This 977 km trip, enjoyed in air-conditioned comfort, travels through Charters Towers, across the Great Dividing Range and through the mining towns of Hughenden and Julia Creek before delivering passengers into the heart of Australia. There is so much to do and see from Mount Isa including the prehistoric exhibits at the Riversleigh Fossils Interpretive Centre and tours of underground mines.
The Inlander – Onboard
Travelling west through the remote townships of Queensland’s northern outback, the journey on The Inlander gives you the chance to glimpse the heritage and natural treasures of North Queensland’s ‘big sky’ country.
Facilities
The Inlander provides the following facilities and services: drinking fountains, restrooms, showers for sleeping berths, air-conditioning, food & beverage services providing meals, refreshments, snacks, confectionary and a liquor service. Onboard entertainment is also provided for you with movies shown in the Club Car.
Only cash (AUD $), Visa and Mastercard credit cards are accepted on board the trains. Personal and travellers cheques are not accepted and EFTPOS is not available. Guests are advised to bring cash for the journey to buy drinks and meals if they do not hold any of these cards.
