PADI ADVENTURE DIVES

To make training easier for the traveler, they can now split the advanced course into five separate dives called ‘adventure dives’. These can be conducted at different Dive Shops/locations if required and each counts towards your advanced certification. Dives are offered on the Yongala Wreck. Open Water Divers will be required to undertake the PADI ‘Deep’ Adventure dive as part of their first dive on the wreck

Dives include – Deep, Wreck, Multi-level, Boat, Fish ID, Underwater Naturalist, and Nitrox dives.

PADI ADVANCED COURSE

The PADI Advanced course is the next step after your basic training and helps to develop your existing skills. It’s not often you will be able to undertake these dives on a world-class dive site but they actually run 4 of the adventure dives on the S.S. YONGALA Wreck, so you can experience this wonderful dive whilst continuing your dive training. The navigation dive will be completed at an alternative site. Courses must be arranged in advance.

This is recommended for all divers and you will also have some serious fun while learning with this course! With a bonus thrown in, your open water dives will be conducted on the S.S.YONGALA Wreck, What better place to practice your skills?

PADI DIVEMASTER COURSE

Considering becoming a Dive Professional? Well, this is where you acquire the knowledge and skills to become a diver leader and supervise dive activities. This course includes classroom, pool, ocean, and dive shop training – you will also become involved in assisting their Dive Instructors with the training of their students.

Why not undertake this as an internship over 3 months and you will finish your training and be readily ‘employable’?

How often do you take on new Divemaster trainees..?
They accept new trainees approximately every two to three months, it’s best to call or email us early with your interest in this offer to plan for the future. Taking your Divemaster course with Yongala Dive is a heavy sort after the experience.

How long will it take and what’s covered in the cost..?
Option 1 – pay for the course – Cost: $1250

Option 2 – gain experience while working for 2 to 3 months at Yongala Dive. You will alternate with another Yongala divemaster trainee; one day you will assist instructors while diving the S.S. Yongala wreck, and the next day working at the dive center & dive lodge.  This way you will be well-rounded.

PADI NITROX COURSE

If you have a PADI Open Water Diver certification and are a traveling diver then you can start.

Most divers visit and do just 2 dives on the SS Yongala. They comment “if I knew the diving was going to be this good, I would have planned 4 dives over 2 days instead.” The main problem is they have forward bookings so cannot extend. Don’t be one of these people! (Book Ahead). The main benefit of taking this package is you leave with extra qualifications which will benefit you in the future and it doesn’t cost much more.

You will leave as a PADI Adventure and Enriched air specialty diver meaning you will be able to dive nitrox anywhere in the world (see below why nitrox is so good here). If you make 2 more adventure dives you can become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

What is the cost and what is included in the package?
Course Duration: 2 days plus self-study

Includes:

  • 4 Dives over 2 days on the SS Yongala Shipwreck
  • PADI Advanced + Enriched Air (Nitrox) Manual
  • PADI Adventure Diver Certification
  • PADI Enriched Air (nitrox) Specialty Diver Certification

1 or 2 Nights Accommodation (additional cost if required)
