Daydream Island - Whitsundays, Australia
Daydream Island is a Tropical paradise and is situated in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park 5 kilometres off the main land, and is the perfect island resort for families and couples including day trippers. Just one kilometre long and 500 metres wide, Daydream is always popular with its easy access from Hamilton Island and the Whitsunday Coast airport at Proserpine.
In 2001 the new Daydream Island Resort & Spa was unveiled - the finale of a two-year $40 million development program which included the introduction of new levels of accommodation and the rejuvenation spa. The Daydream Rejuvenation Spa is designed to replenish the body and soul, reflect and rejoice life in surroundings that will leave you renewed, repaired and revitalized.
All of Daydream's three beaches one is fringed by outcrops of live coral and colourful fish life, which makes for a perfect underwater playground to snorkel. The centre and highest point of the island is a small but dense jungle of tropical vegetation inhabited by parrots and tiny sunbirds. Walk through the shaded walkways which are representative of just some of the island's innate natural beauty.
From the island you are free to explore as you please, with tours to the Great Barrier Reef, and other Whitsunday Islands, leaving regularly.
There is snorkeling along beaches with fringing coral, and water-sports including sail boarding, jet-skiing, parasailing, coral viewing in glass bottomed boats, and reef fishing. Play tennis, volleyball, badminton or croquet. Learn to dive or try sea kayaking. You can now also play mini golf on the Island at a spectacular putt putt golf course that needs to be seen to be believed.
