Mission Beach is a great place to take a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef, simply cruise across to Dunk Island or take in the beautiful waterways in the Hinchinbrook Island region.
Mission beach day excursions include fishing and diving trips aboard local cruise boats. Captain Cook Cruises from Cairns also offer passenger ships through the local waters off Mission Beach and often anchor overnight just near other offshore islands. Day trips from Mission Beach are undertaken on a 21 metre purpose-built vessel and travel time is approximately 1 hour.
A specialist dive company offers reef diving, snorkelling, wreck diving and courses through to instructor. Snorkelers’ are most welcome and will enjoy the smaller group experience. Many other choices are available for those who wish to charter their own course through the waterways of the Mission Beach Coastal area. Depending on the length of the trip embarked upon, meals are provided aboard the charter boat, others specifically cater for that different dining experience.
Dive courses are run in an air conditioned classroom and onsite diver training pool. Great Barrier Reef trips are available to certified divers, introductory divers and snorkeler’s.
