The Skyrail Experience
The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway spans 7.5kms over Queensland’s far north tropical rainforests.
The Skyrail gondolas are just metres above the rainforest and descend through the canopy layers to go deep into the heart of the forest. Skyrail has two rainforest mid-stations for passengers to get off and on to experience the tropical rainforest.
Skyrail Experience
The ride will take approximately 1½ hours one way, or 2-2½ hours return.
The Skyrail gondola ride will either begin or finish at Caravonica or Kuranda, depending on your direction of travel.
Caravonica Terminal: Skyrail’s Caravonica Terminal is located just 15 minutes from Cairns and 50 minutes from Port Douglas.
Depart Caravonica Terminal
Gondola travelling time: approximately 10 minutes
Distance: 2.7 kms
At Red Peak Station: Rainforest boardwalk. Plan to spend approximately 20-30 minutes
Red Peak Station: This is the first rainforest mid-station, Red Peak.
Gondola travelling time: approximately 12-14 minutes
Distance: 3.1 kms
At Barron Falls Station: Rainforest Interpretation Centre, lookouts, historical display. Plan to spend approximately 20-30 minutes
Barron Falls Station: At Barron Falls Station you will see views of the Barron Gorge.
Gondola travelling time: approximately 7-8 minutes
Distance: 1.7 kms
Arrive Kuranda Terminal
Kuranda: From Barron Falls, your Skyrail continues through the mountains, over the Barron River and arriving at Skyrail’s Kuranda Terminal.

TOUR OPTIONS:
This is a combination of a one-way Skyrail Rainforest Cableway with a one-way Kuranda Scenic Railway and can be enjoyed as a half- or full-day experience.
You can start with either Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or Kuranda Scenic Railway and either experience is equally enjoyable.
Please note: Kuranda Scenic Railway morning departures are only available from Freshwater Railway Station, not Cairns Central Railway Station.

Smithfield Terminal: 6 Skyrail Drive, Smithfield (15 minutes north of Cairns City and 50 minutes south of Port Douglas)
If you are self-driving, please park and check-in at Skyrail’s Smithfield Terminal (including self-drivers commencing with Kuranda Scenic Railway). A one-way transfer between Smithfield Terminal and Freshwater Railway Station is included in your self-drive package.
Hotel bus transfers are also available from selected Cairns city locations.
