Many holidaymakers come to the Gold Coast because there is so much beachfront accommodation. Queensland’s Gold Coast consists of a number of excellent beaches and some of the most iconic surf breaks in the country. Each of these separate beaches has its own surf club and all are patrolled by qualified lifesavers from these clubs. The lifesavers mark out the safest swimming areas with their red and yellow flags and then maintain a watch over swimmers and surfers in their area. Most of the beaches have an esplanade that is lined with high-rise luxury accommodation resorts. You can either enjoy the view of the beach from your balcony with a cold beer in your hand or stroll down to the sand and take part in all the beachside activities. Staying in beachfront family accommodation has a special ambiance all of its own.
At the northern end of the Gold Coast are the three most popular beaches. They are Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, and Broadbeach. Main Beach is now really popular with the kite surfing fraternity and their spectacular activities are great to watch. Surfers Paradise is the main tourist beach and this is the place to check out the bikini babes and the muscle men. It is just a short stroll from the Cavill Ave mall with all its shopping, bars, cafes, and restaurants. Broadbeach also has its own excellent beachfront accommodation that is close to the commercial center. Between the three it is hard to decide which one is the best.
Further to the south is Burleigh Heads. It has its own point surf that is very popular and has lots of great beachfront accommodation. There is a tree-lined park that runs right along the beachfront here and this area is really popular with families as it is not as crowded as the more northerly beaches. Further to the south again are Mermaid Beach and Tugun. Coolangatta is right at the southern end of the Gold Coast and through this southern region, there are a dozen or so beaches that all have great family beachfront accommodation.
