Hervey Bay Activities

Hervey Bay is a place where there are so many holiday activities and attractions that you won’t be able to decide what to do next. Hervey Bay is one of Queensland’s most popular holiday destinations for families with kids as there is so much to see and do without the high prices of some of the more celebrated destinations. If you haven’t been to Hervey Bay, then your in for a very pleasant surprise. How does 16 kilometres of Esplanade with a magnificent calm water beach that is safe for kids sound. How does a $12 million water park sound. Well that only a small part of the fantastic activities you can have in Hervey Bay. The climate is sensational with winter temperatures around 23 Celsius and located far enough south of the equator that it remains virtually untroubled by cyclones during the wet season. Spring and Autumn are just sensational with a daily average around 26 degrees.

Hervey Bay is the main jumping off point for Fraser Island and you can take a tour or you can take the family four wheel drive instead. Fraser Island is made completely of sand and provides the best 4X4 driving venue in Australia. It is home to magnificent rainforests, crystal clear lakes and stupendous beaches. During the months from mid July till early November thousands of humpback whales visit the Platypus Bay area inside of Hervey Bay itself. A dozen or so charter vessels depart from the Urangan Boat harbour, every day during the Hervey Bay whale watching season. You can choose to go for a day, a half day or just a couple of hours. Your kids will be absolutely enthralled when a 40 tonne whale comes close to your boat or breaches out of the water and falls back with an incredible splash. Some of the activities you will witness cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.

Hervey Bay also has a choice of fantastic family accommodation with plenty of resorts and apartments in locations like the Urangan Boat Harbour or along the Hervey Bay esplanade itself. There are great dining opportunities with plenty of a la carte restaurants as well as a full set of all the popular take away places. For those looking for a round of golf, Hervey Bay Golf club always welcomes visitors and the course is one of the top ten country courses in Queensland.

The holiday activities available in Hervey Bay will keep your kids and you entertained for the duration of your holiday.
