Brisbane Suncorp Stadium

Suncorp Stadium is generally agreed to be the best Rugby League stadium in Australia. It was known for generations as Lang Park and during the early years of state of origin football between Queensland and New South Wales was often referred to as” The Cauldron”. Many commentators still refer to it as Lang Park as old habits can be hard to change. Outside the front gate a statue of Wally Lewis, known as the “Emperor of Lang Park” chides New South Wales supporters who dare to come and cheer for their team.

The old Lang Park stadium has been demolished and replaced with a brand new, state of the art, football stadium capable of seating 50000 fans and during the state of origin matches that occur each year, is filled to capacity. It has now been renamed Suncorp Stadium on behalf of its major sponsor. The design of the new stadium is excellent and every seat has a fantastic view of the action. Patrons feel like they are practically on the field with their idols.

Suncorp Stadium is located close enough to the city that you can walk from CBD accommodation to the park on game day. Both Brisbane CBD accommodation and Southbank hotels or apartments is always booked out when matches are on. Suncorp Stadium is the home of the highly successful Brisbane Broncos Rugby league team and they play here every second week.

If you are coming to Brisbane during the football season, try to include a game at Suncorp Stadium.
