On the waterfront, you will find the marina with tour boats departing daily for trips to the Great Barrier Reef and there is also a fantastic up-market shopping center in the Marina building. A number of great alfresco restaurants line the marina front. On the other side of the isthmus and at the eastern end of Macrossan Street is the beach which is several miles long. Stinger nets provide safe places to swim.
There are plenty of activities to become involved in around Port Douglas. Tours leave daily for the magnificent Daintree Rainforest and the coastal region between Cape Tribulation and Cooktown. This is a must-see area with some of the best pristine rainforest regions, left in the world to be experienced. Golfers will love Port Douglas with its great weather and a choice of resort courses to choose from. The Sheraton mirage has a beautiful course running along the main beachfront. The sea Temple resort also has a wonderful course and the local Mossman Golf Course is always open and welcomes visitors. At nearby Palm Cove, there are other great courses to choose from. Port Douglas specials are also regularly available.
